MEDICAL CLINICS AND NEW CHURCH PLANT

Dear praying friends,

Tomorrow we will be leaving Nakuru with a group of forty people and traveling to the town of Kilgoris.  We will be accompanied by nineteen people who have traveled to Kenya from the United States with Dr. Greg Waller who heads up Truth For Today Medical Missions.  During our eight days in Kilgoris region we will be holding six medical clinics, offering both medical and vision needs.  Each person who comes to the clinic to be seen by the doctor will also be seen by a soul winner and will be given a clear presentation of the gospel.

This coming Sunday will be the first service of a new church being started in Kilgoris town.  The Habari Njema Baptist Church (Good News Baptist Church) of Kilgoris town is being started as a joint effort of the Grace Bible Baptist Church of Nakuru and the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Olorupa (a village outside Kilgoris).  The Lighthouse Baptist Church is pastored by John Nkome.  We have had a close relationship with Pastor Nkome for sixteen years and have seen him grow and mature in many ways.  He is a long time student in our bible college and has always taken what he has learned and applied it to his church and life.

Pastor Nkome is of the Maasai tribe, and Kilgoris town is a predominantly Maasai town.  The Maasai people in many ways have remained true to their cultural traditions from manners of dressing to ways of living.  Certainly there is nothing wrong with staying true to one’s culture but unfortunately much of the Maasai culture is steeped in animism and ungodliness.  For this reason they are not as evangelized as some of the other areas of Kenya.

It is our desire to see a strong church planted in the midst of this region that can be a Lighthouse for the cause of Christ.  We are excited about the opportunities to reach deeper into this community for Christ.  Several men have been saved in Kilgoris town and we believe many more will be added to that number.

Please be in prayer for the medical team as the serve the physical needs of these people and be in prayer for the team from Grace Bible Baptist Church as they work to present a clear presentation of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  Pray especially for this coming Sunday, the 29th of January when the first service of the new church plant will be held.

Grateful for you prayers,

His for Kenya,
And the Regions Beyond,

Robert Mickey Jr. and family

NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2016 PRAYER LETTER

WORK PERMIT UPDATE
We are happy to report that our work permit was finally approved.  The problem was exactly as explained to us, a misplace file.  We were able to have a temporary file opened and when the old file is found they will combine the two files.  Our work permit is valid for a period of three years.  Now that I have a valid Kenya resident permit I have also been able to get the necessary permits to again travel to Congo and Burundi. Thank you for praying concerning this issue.

NEW CHURCH TO BE STARTED
Maasai house

Maasai men
We are planning a new church plant in the town of Kilgoris.  Kilgoris is a predominantly Maasai town about 250 kilometers from Nakuru.  It sets very near the world famous Maasai Mara game reserve.   The Maasai tribe is one of the most culturally traditional tribes in Kenya.  Because of this you will often find them clinging on to many of the old ways and unfortunately many of the old way are steeped in ungodliness.  The Maasai people still practice wicked cultural customs such as polygamy and female circumcision.  You will often find the Maasai wearing their tradition clothes and living in a boma (house) made of cow dung.  We have trained several Maasai men in our Bible College and one of these men will be the pastor of this new church,  the Habari Njema Baptist Church ( Good News Baptist Church).  A Bible study has already been started and is meeting every Wednesday.  This new church plant will be a combined effort with the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Olorupa and the Grace Bible Baptist Church of Nakuru.  The Lighthouse Baptist Church is a Maasai church pastored by John Nkome who has also been trained in our Bible college.  Pastor John is a man of good character and has taught his church well.  It has been our prayer for nearly fifteen years that a church could be started in the town of Kilgoris and we are so thankful that God is about to answer that prayer.  The official date for the first service is the 29th of January.   We will be hosting a two day medical clinic in Kilgoris town on the Friday and Saturday before the start date as a way to advertise the new church.  We believe through the medical clinics and the ongoing Bible study that many will have the chance to hear the Gospel.  Please keep this new church plant in prayer.
